Since Middle Ages, Greve history is bounded to the main square where market has always been held. T
he village was a mere satellite of Montefioralle Castle but thanks to its position on Valdarno-Val di Greve and Florence-Siena junctions, it became the most important market.
The square is shaped like a stretched triangle surrounded by arcades and decorated in the middle with Giovanni da Verrazzano statue. One of the summit angles is taken up by the parish church dedicated to the Holy Cross (XIX century).
