| It is located on the confluence of 3 of the 4 valleys which compose the province.
North of the town, the Casentino valley, where the first part of Arno runs, can be reached directly from Valdarno through the mountain pass of Consuma (1037 m.).
North-west lays Superior Valdarno where the course of Arno links Arezzo and Florence.
South there is Val di Chiana, a plain obtained by reclaiming the previous marsh, whose most important watercourse is Chiana main canal.
East lays Valtiberina, where the first part of river Tevere flows.
Arezzo hosts a variety of antiques trades and shops: once per month – every first Sunday of the month - a big open-air market is hold in the streets of the city center.
The territory of the district is really wide and varied: from the plain opened on Val di Chiana and river Arno to the hills, facing the south of the city, to the mountains, facing east.
